Rolla: Duo for violin and viola op.6, no. 2

Rolla was born in Pavia in 1757 and spent most of his life in Milan, where he was orchestra director of La Scala for 30 years. He also taught violin and viola at the local conservatory - Paganini was also one of his students for some time - and performed as a soloist. His preference for the viola (as well as in his Viola Concerto) is expressed in his predominantly chamber music compositions – duos, trios, quartets for strings, viola sonatas.

The duo is characterized by a broad first movement, an elegiac - cantabile middle movement and a playful rondo.

The technical level of difficulty (1-10) is 4-5 for the violin and 4 for viola.
