Mozart: Sonata in B flat major, KV 292 for 2 cellos

This duo was originally written for bassoon and cello. Mozart probably composed it in Munich in 1775 for the bassoon lover Freiherr Thaddäus von Dürnitz.

Since Mozart treated the cello - apart from the so-called cello quartets - rather neglected, it makes sense to perform this work with 2 cellos (AER 160).

The three-movement work - two rather cheerful - amusing movements frame a rather somber - melodic Andante in D minor - enriches the cello duo repertoire with a gem, which of course also promises musical enjoyment in the version with 2 violas - AER 161-.

A transposition of the 1. Cello part for viola is included with the edition.
