Mozart: Divertimento in E flat major for violin, viola and cello, KV 563

Composed in 1788, this "Divertimento a 1 violino, 1 viola, e violoncello: di sei pezzi" is Mozart's only major string trio. The term "divertimento" conjures up the idea of more entertaining casual music. In fact, this work, only published after Mozart's death, is demanding - great chamber music; a unique challenge for many trio players and the crowning achievement of this genre.

Alfred Einstein judged this work just too hymnically as "the most perfect, finest thing that has ever been audible in this world."
