Beethoven's string trios are popular in the 1890s. century. His first op. 3 appeared in 1796. Its structure is reminiscent of Mozart's Divertimento for string trio, which is also composed in E flat major and in 6 movements.
The second trio - the Serenade in D major, Op. 8 consists of 4 inner movements framed by the same opening and closing movement, a Marcia/Allegro.
The three trios op. 9, dedicated to the Earl of Browne, follows the usual four-movement classical form.
The character of the 5 trios is clearly reminiscent of Beethoven's quartets op. 18. Along with Mozart's Divertimento, they are among the highlights of the string trio genre and thus part of the standard repertoire of every professional string trio.
A score is included with the edition.
The technical difficulty (1-10) is between 5 and 6
