Albrechtsberger is one of the few composers who wrote a series of trios for the occupation of the "classical" string trio - violin, viola and violoncello - as early as the Baroque period.
One of the most beautiful and imaginative is the three-movement Trio in F major presented here, in which the viola is happily treated on an equal footing with the violin.
